Questionnaire on person-to-person marketing calls

OFTA had approached ETS Society for the assistance on distributing "Questionnaire on person-to-person marketing calls". Understanding that ETS industry is making use of Outbound Call Center to promote the IDD Service in Hong Kong Market, the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance(UEMO) has fully commenced to regulate the sending of commercial electronic messages and person-to-person commercial calls are currently exempt from the UEMO.

In order for OFTA to understand the impact of person-to-person commercial calls and gauge the views of the public about them, OFTA has commissioned a survey of public opinion in October 2008. Apart from collecting the general public's views, there is also a need to collect the industry's views for making a balanced assessment. The Government will take into account the collected views to consider the way forward on the question of whether person-to-person commercial calls should be regulated or not.

If any of the members makes outbound person-to-person commercial calls, can refer to the questionnairs as below, and return to the filled questionnaires to Ms Helen Lau (OFTA) directly by 15 May 2009. Any enquiries in relation to the questionnaire can be made to Ms Helen Lau directly.
